USA: ESPN+ (OTT) to host a "virtual watch party" for Bayern Munich-Borussia Dortmund on 07/11/2020

The American OTT sports platform ESPN+ is teaming up with the DFL to organise a "virtual watch party" for Borussia Dortmund - FC Bayern Munich (Der Klassiker) the highlight of Matchday 7 of the 2020-21 Bundesliga season, on Saturday 07/11/2020 (kick-off at 18:30 CET, 12:30 on the east coast of the USA and 09:30 on the west coast).

The watch party will be hosted via the video-conferencing service Zoom and will include a half-time show with former players Patrick Owomoyela (GER, ex-Borussia Dortmund) and Roy Makaay (NED, ex-Bayern Munich).

This is the first time ESPN+ will broadcast Der Klassiker in the United States. ESPN acquired the broadcasting rights to the Bundesliga in the United States for the 2020-2026 cycle, for an estimated €35m per season, on 30/09/2019. These rights were held by Fox Corporation for the previous cycle (2015-2020).

USA: ESPN+ had 8.5 million subscribers at the end of June 2020 (+6.1 million in one year)
