Covid-19: 61,851 tests for 526 UEFA matches (05/08 - 15/10/2020) with 341 positive cases (0.55%)

61,851 tests for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) were carried out during 526 matches organised by UEFA between 05/08 and 15/10/2020, according to the European body on 05/11/2020, which stated that 341 positive cases were recorded (0.55%), of which less than half were players, the others concerning staff, referees, etc.

These 526 matches were organised within the framework of 10 UEFA competitions: the Champions League, Europe League, Women's Champions League, Youth League, Super Cup, Futsal Champions League, Nations League, Euro 2020 play-offs, Under-21 and Women's Euro qualifiers.

"UEFA's Return to Play Protocol made professional football among the safest environments in the world. The protocol set out very clearly the steps taken in the event of teams reporting Coronavirus cases. As an example, during qualifying for this season's men's club competitions, 213 matches were played: of those, three were rescheduled, three were played at a neutral venue because of the virus, and just three were cancelled," explained the European Confederation.
