FC Barcelona: Rakuten (e-commerce), extends as main shirt sponsor until 2021-22

Rakuten, a Japanese group specialised in internet services (e-commerce, finance, digital content), has activating the extension clause in its partnership with FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) and will continue as the club's main shirt sponsor until the end of 2021-22, announced Barça on 06/11/2020. This clause was activated on 09/10/2020.

Rakuten has been Barça's main shirt sponsor for four seasons, since 01/07/2017. The Japanese group also remains the FC Barcelona's "global innovation and entertainment partner" (first level in the sponsorship hierarchy of the club).

"This means that Barça and Rakuten are reaffirming their alliance at a time marked by the social and economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The assets included in the extension will be optimized to be more suitable and aligned to the circumstances of the post-pandemic era," said the club.

The terms of the first agreement signed on 16/11/2016 provided for a financial allocation of €55m per season, excluding sports performance bonuses (including €1.5m for winning LaLiga Santander and €5m for winning the Champions…
