CIES: Real Madrid, Barça and Lyon have trained the most European Top 5 players in 2020-21

Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) is, for the fifth consecutive year, the club that has trained the most players among the 98 clubs in the European Top 5 (Premier League, LaLiga Santander, Bundesliga, Serie A TIM and Ligue 1 Uber Eats) in 2020-21, according to the CIES Football Observatory's Weekly Post, published on 09/11/2020.

With a total of 43 players in the European Top 5 who have played at the club for at least three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21, Real Madrid are ahead of another Spanish club, FC Barcelona (32 trained players), and Olympique Lyonnais (31 players). These three clubs previously occupied the top three - in the same order - during the 2019-20 season.

Taking into account the number of active players among the top 31 divisions of UEFA member associations, the Madrid club falls to 6^th place (63 players) in a ranking dominated by FK Partizan (SRB, 85 players), followed by AFC Ajax (Eredivisie, 77 players) and Dinamo Zagreb (CRO, 71 players).
