France: OL Groupe posts €101.6m in revenue (-20%) in the first quarter of fiscal year 2020-21

OL Groupe posted a turnover of €101.6m in the first quarter of fiscal year 2020-21 (from 01/07 to 30/09/2020), a decrease of 20% compared to the same period in 2019-20 (a record €126.4m), announced the holding company owner of Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), on 12/11/2020.

"The activity of the first quarter was strongly impacted by the effects of the health crisis on the professional sports and events industry. (...) Excluding player trading, revenues from activities amounted to €51.1m, down €7.2m, or 12%. The financial impact corresponding to the shortfall on revenue from activities (excluding player trading) is estimated at around €12m," indicated OL Groupe.

Income from the transfer sale of players reached €50.5m, compared to a record €68.1m in the first quarter of 2019-20 (-26%). OL notably sold Bertrand Traoré to Aston Villa FC (Premier League, €15.9m), Martin Terrier to Stade Rennais FC (Ligue 1 Uber Eats, €12m) and Amine Gouiri to OGC Nice (Ligue 1 Uber Eats, €7m).
