UEFA: Supersport renews and extends European Cup TV rights in sub-Saharan Africa

Supersport International has renewed and extended its broadcasting rights to the European Cups from UEFA in sub-Saharan Africa (including South Africa) for the 2021-2024 cycle, announced the South African pay-TV group on 11/11/2020. Supersport has acquired the rights to the Champions League, the Europa League and the future Europa Conference League.

For the current cycle (2018-2021), Supersport holds the rights to broadcast the Champions League in English and Portuguese in sub-Saharan Africa (including South Africa) and the rights to the Europa League in South Africa only. The French group Canal+ holds the rights (French language) to the Champions League and Europa League (excluding South Africa). StarTimes, a Chinese group with operations in Africa, holds the rights to the Europa League (in English, excluding South Africa).

The announcement by Supersport International came the day after it announced the extension of Premier League rights for the 2022-2025 cycle (see below).
