Germany: 2.Bundesliga clubs exchange information to better respond to the crisis

"All of the 2.Bundesliga clubs have exchanged information and views on the current developments of the Coronavirus crisis and its individual economic consequences in an online meeting," announced the 18 professional clubs of the German second division (see list below) in a joint statement published by the DFL on 20/11/2020.

"The loss of revenue caused by the Coronavirus pandemic and which is expected to be even greater as a result of matches without spectators or with significant restrictions on spectator numbers also has a considerable economic impact on the clubs in the 2.Bundesliga," said the statement.

"Added to this is the previously announced reduction in media revenues under the new rights cycle from the 2021-22 season onwards. The clubs in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga will have around €200m less available in the coming season alone," said the clubs.
