Lega Serie A: campaign to fight violence against women deployed on Matchday 8 of the Serie A TIM

The Lega Serie A, in partnership with the NGO WeWorld Onlus, promoted the fourth edition of the #unrossoallaviolenza ("a red to violence", in English) campaign, which aims to defend women's rights and fight violence against women, during Matchday 8 of the 2020-21 Serie A TIM season, from 21 to 22/11/2020.

During the matchday, players and referees stepped onto the pitch with a red mark - a symbol of the campaign - on their faces, while the captains of each team wore special armbands in the colours of the operation. A video clip of the campaign was also shown on the screens of the Italian stadiums and banners were deployed.

"The Lega Serie A has taken a clear position by deactivating comments on its Instagram @seriea account from Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19/11/2020 to convey to the community a sense of incommunicability, of silence; the same silence to which women who suffer violence are reduced," said the Italian body.
