The British Government has announced a £300m (€337.8m on 23/11/2020) "Sport Winter Survival Package" in order to help fund sports in England, which are suffering due to a lack of spectators as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, announced the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and HM Treasury on 19/11/2020.

"The Sports Winter Survival Package will support sports - from national governing bodies through to clubs - impacted by Coronavirus restrictions. The funding, which will be largely composed of loans, is the most generous of any Government for its domestic sport sector in the world, and will focus on sports severely impacted over the winter. Support will be provided to rugby union, horse racing, women's football and the lower tiers of the National League. Rugby League, motorsport, tennis, netball, basketball, ice hockey, badminton and greyhound racing are also in line to benefit," explained the British Government, which published a breakdown of funding by sport that includes £28m (€31.47m) for football (see below).
