Portugal: Warrior Sports replaces Nike as FC Porto's kit supplier through 2016-17

The American brand Warrior Sports will replace Nike as FC Porto's (Liga Sagres) kit supplier beginning with the 2014-15 season, the company announced on 30/05/2014. The three-year contract will expire at the end of the 2016-17 season.

Nike was the club's technical partner since 2000 and paid the club an annual amount of €2m in 2010-2014. The contract with Warrior is estimated at €2.5m per year.

"FC Porto will spearhead our entry into the Portuguese market and this deal marks a major leap forward in the global reach of Warrior Football," said Richard Wright, Warrior Sports' general manager for football. FC Porto finished third in the 2013-14 Portuguese championship.

  • The U.S. kit supplier Warrior Sport and the French company Sport Finance (which handles the French distribution of Kappa and Sergio Tacchini) announced on 15/04/2013 a distribution agreement for the French market through 2017.
  • Warrior, whose European headquarters are in Manchester (England), is in negotiations with Manchester United to replace Nike beginning in 2015-16, the British newspapers The Times and The Guardian
