"Overall, we are getting there, with the teams on the ground busy applying the final touches. As I said many times, the staging of a FIFA World Cup is a collective effort and we will not have a single moment to relax until the opening matches in all 12 cities are played," said Jérôme Valcke, the secretary general of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), on 30/05/2014.

In a series of visits ending on 29/05/2014, Valcke performed a final check of preparations of the 12 stadiums that will host the competition in Brazil from 12/06 to 13/07/2014. He was concerned about three stadiums: those of Natal, Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo.

The IBC (International Broadcast Centre) will be officially inaugurated on 02/06/2014. "It is the major hub for all broadcast media covering the action from the 2014 World Cup, connecting all 12 venues and ensuring that the images of the event reach all broadcast territories worldwide," said the FIFA general secretary.
