Ligue 1 / Ligue 2 TV rights: Mediapro faces the loss of confidence from French football

"I hope that the links are not irreparably broken with the (French) League, I am confident in the fact that we find reasonable solutions with them," declared Jaume Roures, partner-founder of the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro, during a press conference on 21/10/2020.

Even if the French League itself has not communicated about Mediapro since this press conference, some club presidents did not hesitate to do so, like Pierre Ferracci, president of Paris FC (Ligue 2 BKT), to Europe 1 radio on 19/11/2020: "I believe that they (Mediapro) put the LFP in an impossible position. I hope that Vincent Labrune (president of the LFP) will manage to not remain in a deadly stand-off with Mediapro. The real negotiations must engage other operators who have shown a little more seriousness in the past than Mediapro is showing today. It must reintroduce Canal+, for example, but perhaps also beIN Sports and perhaps Free in the negotiations, so that we can see (solutions) more clearly."
