Argentina: death of Diego Armando Maradona (1960-2020)

"The Argentine Football Association, through its president Claudio Tapia, expresses its deepest sorrow for the death of our legend, Diego Armando Maradona. You will always be in our hearts," announced the AFA on 25/11/2020.

Diego Maradona, born on 30/10/1960, died of a heart attack at the age of 60 in the suburbs of Buenos Aires (ARG) on 25/11/2020. The Argentine government announced three days of national mourning in tribute to the 1986 world champion.

"What sad news. I lost a great friend and the world lost a legend. There is still much to be said, but for now, may God give strength to family members. One day, I hope we can play ball together in the sky," said former Brazilian International and three-time World Cup winner 1958, 1962 and 1970, Pelé (80) via Twitter.

A minute of silence will be observed during Champions League and Europa League matches on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26/11/2020, announced UEFA.
