LFP TV rights: Mediapro sues Canal+ for "abuse of a dominant position" (Agence France Presse)

The Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro has filed a brief with the Paris commercial court to sue the French audiovisual group Canal+, which it accuses of "abuse of a dominant position", for damages in the context of negotiations between the two groups having followed the call for tenders for the domestic broadcasting rights to the LFP for the 2020-2024 period, Agence France Presse reported on 26/11/2020.

Canal+ has already taken Mediapro to court in a motion "to put an end to the inequality of treatment in the distribution of the Téléfoot channel", on 18/09/2020. "Nothing will emerge from Canal+ 's legal action against us. This is just done to weaken us, our disagreements will not be resolved before a judge. We still want to find an agreement with them," had stated Jaume Roures, founder and partner of Mediapro, on 21/10/2020.
