Brazil 2014: Adidas and Japan Football Association launch Pokémon collector shirt for children

In Japan, German kit supplier Adidas and the JFA (Japan Football Association) launched a Pokémon collector shirt for children on 23/05/2014. The JFA and Adidas partnered with Pokémon, the animated series which belongs to the Nintendo group, on 12/03/2014 in order to offer co-branded products for the World Cup.

Pikachu, the series' main character, is on the front of the shirt, which is otherwise a replica of that to be worn by the Japanese team at the 2014 World Cup. The shirt is sold exclusively in the Adidas Store in Japan for €55. Other Pokémon co-branded products are also available: T-shirts, scarves, caps, towels, cakes, candy and stuffed animals.

  • Japan are qualified for the 2014 World Cup.
    • In group C, they will face the Ivory Coast (14/06/2014), Greece (19/06/2014) and Colombia (24/06/2014).
  • Several clubs, including FC Barcelona (Liga) and Chelsea (Premier League) have partnered with the U.S. media company 20th Century Fox in order to create co-branded products of The Simpsons.
