"SSC Napoli (Serie A TIM) welcomes the resolution signed by the entire City Council (of Naples Italy) in dedicating the now former Stadio San Paolo (55,000 capacity) to Diego Armando Maradona," announced the Italian club on 04/12/2020.

Diego Maradona, born on 30/10/1960, died of a heart attack (in his bed, sleeping) at the age of 60 in the suburbs of Buenos Aires (ARG) on 25/11/2020. The Argentinian played seven seasons (1984-1991) for Napoli, with whom he played 259 matches, scored 115 goals, and won two Italian league titles, a Coppa Italia and a UEFA Cup (former name of the Europa League).

"The Mayor of Naples Luigi de Magistris and the president of SSC Napoli Aurelio De Laurentiis met today (05/12/2020) at Palazzo San Giacomo (where the City Hall is located). During the cordial and fruitful meeting, which lasted one hour, they agreed on the idea of creating together, inside the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, a Museum of Napoli and the unforgettable Neapolitan and Argentinean champion," said the City of Napels on 05/12/2020.
