FIFA: Investigation into awarding of 2018 and 2022 World Cups to wrap up before 09/06/2014

The investigation into the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar will be completed before 09/06/2014, announced the FIFA (Federation Internationale Football Association) Ethics Committee's Investigatory Chamber on 02/06/2014.

Michael Garcia (USA), the president of the Investigatory Chamber, will submit his report to the Ethics Committee's Adjudicatory Chamber "about six weeks" after the investigation wraps up (that is to say, about 20/07/2014, which is after the World Cup ends, on 13/07/2014), according to the investigatory chamber. "The report will consider all evidence potentially related to the bidding process, including evidence collected from prior investigations," it said in a statement.

New charges of corruption concerning the allocation of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar were issued by the British newsweekly The Sunday Times on 01/06/2014. Mohamed Bin Hammam (Qatar), a former member of the executive committee of FIFA, reportedly paid $5m (€3.7m) to get federations' presidents to support the Qatari bid.
