MLS: San Jose Earthquakes to team up with San Francisco 49ers (NFL) to promote soccer

San Jose Earthquakes (MLS, Major League Soccer, North America) will team up with the San Francisco 49ers (NFL, National Football League, the league for American football) to promote football in the South Bay region (Silicon Valley, south of San Francisco Bay in California) over the next five years, the MLS franchise announced on 01/06/2014.

San Jose Earthquakes' MLS matches will take place in the new home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi's Stadium (68,500 seats), which is to be inaugurated on 02/08/2014, until the completion of their own stadium (Earthquakes Stadium, capacity 18,000), to be delivered in early 2015. Both stadiums are in Santa Clara and eight kilometres from each other. Levi's Stadium will also host matches of the U.S. national team and training camps for international teams.
