LFP TV rights: commercial court validates the settlement agreement between the League and Mediapro

The Nanterre (Greater Paris) commercial court approved and validated the settlement agreement from the conciliation protocol between the LFP and Mediapro Sport France in the presence of Marc Sénéchal, the court-appointed conciliator since 19/10/2020, announced the LFP on 22/12/2020.

"With this agreement, the LFP regains full enjoyment of the rights previously held by Mediapro Sport France. The LFP is delighted with this first essential step in the treatment of this major dossier for the future of French professional football. The LFP will now turn to the audiovisual rights market to find a favorable outcome allowing the full distribution of Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT over the 2020-2024 cycle," stated the French League.

This agreement provides for the LFP to recover the broadcasting rights to 80% of the matches of Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT acquired by Mediapro on 28/05/2018. Mediapro will therefore pay a total of €243.6m for these rights (€143.6m paid in August 2020 + €64m upon validation of the settlement agreement + €36m before 30/06/2021), and the LFP has waived the…
