Prix Versailles 2020: The Reale Arena, Real Sociedad's stadium, winner in the sports category

The Reale Arena, home of Real Sociedad de Futbol (LaLiga Santander), is the winner of the Prix Versailles 2020, a set of architectural awards awarded each year, in the sports category, the club announced on 17/12/2020. The Real Sociedad stadium is ahead of the Al Maktoum Stadium (Dubai, UAE), the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London, ENG), the Puskas Arena (Budapest, HUN), the Papua Bangkit Stadium (Indonesia) and the VTB Arena Dynamo (Moscow, RUS).

The San Sebastian stadium (Basque Country, ESP), inaugurated in 1993, had 32,000 seats. Following a renovation initiated in May 2017 and designed by the Izaskun Larzabal architecture studio, the enclosure can now accommodate 40,000 people. Reale Seguros, a Spanish insurance company, acquired the naming rights to Anoeta Stadium, renamed "La Reale Arena" for six seasons (2019-2025), on 08/01/2019 for a total amount of 10 million euros according to Spanish media.
