Brazil 2014: Google Street View providing virtual tours of 12 World Cup stadiums

Google Maps launched the ability to take virtual tours inside the 12 stadiums of the 2014 World Cup in its Google Street View app on 05/06/2014.

Users can see the 12 stadiums from the stands and the pitch, and a listing of matches held in the stadium. Adjacent streets and over a hundred Brazilian tourist sites will also be available on the platform.

  • Google Street View developed this funcitonality for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
    • It offered a view of the pitch.
  • The Parc des Princes (Paris SG's stadium) can also be visited via Google Street View.
  • Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts (NFL, National Football League, the league for American football) is the first stadium, since 21/02/2013, to have a virtual tour in Google Street View.
