Serie A: "The Americans were stalling," says Cellino, who will sell Cagliari to Giulini

A preliminary agreement was signed for the sale of Cagliari Calcio (Serie A) between Massimo Cellino, the club's owner, and Tommaso Giulini, a former member of the board of Inter Milan (Serie A), on 05/06/2014. The offer is estimated at €45m by the Italian press.

"The Americans were stalling and wanted another 90 days' worth of time. I've accepted selling to Giulini and the operation should be finished very soon. I wish them every success. Now my heart is in Leeds, and all my work and energy is for Leeds" said the Italian businessman on 05/06/2014.

He had thought he had reached an agreement in Florida with U.S. investors for an amount estimated at €77m on 27/05/2014. Previously, on 19/05/2014, negotiations had taken place in London with Giulini. Giulini, owner Fluorsid (chemical industry and mining extractions), had made an estimated offer of €40m, but the two sides were at the time unable to reach an agreement.
