Tennis: 2021 WTA provisional calendar confirmed until 11/07/2021, the day after Wimbledon

The WTA has announced its provisional calendar for the 2021 season, from the Abu Dhabi (UAE) tournament (from 05/01) until 11/07/2021, the day after the final of the Wimbledon on 05/01/2021.

This new version includes four WTA 1000 tournaments (Dubai Duty Free, Miami Open presented by Itaú, the Mutua Madrid Open and the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome) but not, as is the case for the men's tournament, the BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells), which has been postponed.

In France, in addition to Roland-Garros (23/05 to 06/06), two WTA 250 tournaments have been scheduled: the Open 6ème Sens Métropole de Lyon, from 01 to 08/03, and the Internationaux de Strasbourg from 17 to 22/05/2021.

The WTA had previously announced the schedule for the first seven weeks of competition on 18/12/2020, a schedule that included the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, scheduled from 18 to 31/01/2021 at Melbourne Park in Melbourne (AUS), which has been postponed to the period from 08 to 21/02/2021.
