France: only 4 sport broadcasts (all football) in the Top 100 TV ratings for 2020

Four sports programs (all football matches) are ranked in the Top 100 audiences in France, all programs combined, in 2020, according to data from the French audience measurement institute Médiamétrie. The best audiences were recorded by speeches by the President Emmanuel Macron in this year marked by the Covid-19 pandemic which notably led to the postponements of the men's football Euro and the Summer Olympics in 2021.

With 11.4 million viewers on average on TF1, the 2019-20 Champions League final, Paris Saint-Germain - FC Bayern Munich (0-1), recorded the best sport audience of the year (7^th all programs combined), on 23/08/2020. The Top 20 sport audiences 2020 is made up of 11 football matches (eight matches for the French men's national football team, two matches in the Champions League, and the final of the Coupe de France), six matches for the French men's national rugby team, including the five in the 6 Nations tournament, two stages of the Tour de France and a French Open tennis match (see details below).
