France: matches behind closed doors maintained "until at least end of January 2021" (J. Castex)

Stadiums and arenas will remain behind closed doors until at least the end of January 2021, according to French Prime Minister Jean Castex at a press conference on measures to combat Covid-19, in the presence of the Minister of Solidarity and Health Olivier Véran, on 07/01/2021.

The resumption of indoor sports for adults and the reopening of sports halls, both envisaged from 20/01/2021, have been postponed. The next review of the health situation is scheduled for 20/01/2021 "two weeks before the February holidays," said the Prime Minister.

"Whether it is a question of resorting to partial activity, guaranteed loans, the renovated solidarity fund, or sectoral aid, all our measures will be maintained under the same conditions," added Jean Castex.

"What we wanted was the reopening of the stadiums in January 2021 with a system of proportional seating, for example one seat out of two.
