LaLiga Santander: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts of the 20 clubs (Jan 2021) + 2020 review

The 20 clubs in the 2020-21 LaLiga Santander championship have more than 528 million fans on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/01/2021. This total makes the Spanish first division the second most popular European Top 5 league on the three social networks combined, behind the Premier League, with an average of 26.4 million fans per club.

Real Madrid CF is the most popular Spanish club with 241 million fans, while FC Barcelona, second, with a total of nearly 231 million, are ahead of Club Atlético de Madrid in third place with 29 million.

In 2020, Real Madrid posted the best increase in absolute value among the clubs of the European Top 5 with 14.8 million additional fans. Juventus FC (Serie a TIM, +14.6 million) and Barça (+14.57 million) were the European clubs that gained the 2^nd and 3^rd most fans respectively.

In terms of percentage, the club that posted the best growth in the Spanish elite (excluding promoted and relegated sides) was Getafe CF (+30.1% in total over the last 12 months), ahead of Villarreal CF (+19 %)…
