FC Barcelona: 4 presidential candidates (including J. Laporta and V. Font), election on 24/01/2021

"Joan Laporta, Víctor Font, Toni Freixa and Emili Rousaud are the four pre-candidates who have passed the minimum of 2,257 signatures needed to become official candidates for the presidency of FC Barcelona, and who are awaiting the result of the validation process of the signatures that will begin on Tuesday, 12/01/2021," announced the Catalan club on 11/01/2021.

Joan Laporta, who served as president of Barça from 2003 to 2010, and Víctor Font have been presented by the Spanish press as the favourites in the election, which will be held on Sunday 24/01/2021.

Since the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu, president of FC Barcelona, and the entire Catalan club's board of directors on 27/10/2020 (see below), a management committee has been set up - in accordance with FC Barcelona's statutes - and is responsible for organising new elections in order to form Barça's new board of directors. Chaired by Carles Tusquets, it set the election date for 24/01/2021 and determined the number of socios support needed to be able to officially stand as a candidate for the club's presidency.
