TV rights: Canal+ to contest the LFP's new call for tenders (press)

Canal+ will contest the call for tenders launched by the LFP on 19/01/2021, according to information from Figaro.fr on 20/01/2021. By launching a tender solely for the Mediapro lots, the LFP is not granting Canal+'s request for a new, full call for tenders of all lots, as Canal+ wishes to return its lot 3, acquired under sub-licence from beIN Sports for €330m per year. beIN Sports has refused to return this lot to the League, according to the French sports media L'Equipe.

The LFP has launched two "market consultations" concerning the audiovisual rights for both the Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT, on 19/01/2021. These consultations relate to the use of the rights initially allocated to Mediapro for the remainder of the 2020-21 season (starting from 05/02/2021, two days before the Olympique de Marseille - Paris Saint-Germain fixture, Mathchday 24), as well as for the entirety of the 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
