Spain: a DAZN and Telefonica alliance includes Formula 1 rights via sub-license

The British OTT platform DAZN and the Spanish telecommunications operator Telefonica have "joined forces to bring fans more sport in Spain," announced the two entities on 20/01/2021. The agreement includes several provisions:

• The integration of DAZN into the pay-TV package Movistar+ (Telefonica).
• DAZN recovers Formula 1 broadcasting rights (until 2023) via sub-licence from Telefonica. Formula 1 will be broadcast on the DAZN platform and on a new linear DAZN F1 channel for Movistar+ subscribers from 01/03/2021.
• Movistar+ subscribers who already have access to Formula 1 will also have access to the other competitions broadcast by DAZN in Spain (Premier League, MotoGP, Copa Del Rey, Copa Libertadores, Turkish Airlines Euroleague, UFC) via two new linear channels DAZN 1 and DAZN 2, available since the signing of the agreement.
