"For the product (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), everything starts from a market approach. We need solutions that correspond to what broadcasters can bring. We realise that today we need to reduce the number of elite teams, also because UEFA is asking for it. We also know that the federations want this because the number of national team matches is increasing. There is therefore a consensus to start with the organisation of 16 or 18 clubs, but which would also review the professional system: it could be three groups of 16 teams, or a Ligue 1 with 16 clubs and a Ligue 2 BKT with two groups of 12, or a Ligue 1 with 18 clubs and a Ligue 2 with 18 as well," said Jean-Michel Aulas, president of Olympique Lyonnais and ambassador of e-Think Sport 2021, on 26/01/2021.
