"UEFA is committed to holding Euro 2020 in the 12 cities originally planned (see list below). The Euro is the flagship competition for national team football in Europe and is a vital source of funding for grassroots and wider football development," said Aleksander Ceferin, president of the European body, on 28/01/2021.

"UEFA officials today met representatives of the 12 host associations/organisers of Euro 2020, in a routine meeting to discuss operational matters relating to the tournament, which is to be staged in the summer," said UEFA.

Turkey - Italy, the opening match of Euro 2020 was scheduled at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome (ITA) on 12/06/2020: this match shall now take place 52 weeks later, on Friday 11/06/2021. Faced with the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, UEFA decided to postpone Euro 2020 for one year (from 11/06 to 11/07/2021), on 17/03/2020.
