e-Think Sport: "Football, the leading party in France, but carries no political weight" (F. Thiriez)

"I am extremely shocked that football carries no political weight. Nothing! It's abnormal, because I usually say that it's the leading party in France with 2 million members. If we add the families, that makes almost 10 million people. We are not using this political force," said Frédéric Thiriez, former president of the LFP (2002-2016) and candidate for the presidency of the French Football Federation, during e-Think Sport 2021, on 27/01/2021.

"During the government press conferences on the Covid crisis, the Sports Minister (Roxana Maracineanu) is never present. It's quite humiliating! At a time when culture has big political clout, and that's good for culture! I definitely intend to reverse this, if I am elected president," added Frédéric Thiriez during an interview devoted to the issues at stake at the FFF, a few weeks before the elections scheduled for Saturday 13/03/2021.
