Coupe de France TV rights: France Télévisions and Eurosport ask for a 30% discount for 2020-21

In a joint letter addressed to the FFF, the public service broadcaster France Télévisions and the pay-TV group Eurosport have requested a 30% discount on the broadcasting rights to the Coupe de France for the 2020-21 season due to its change of format, according to information provided by the French sports daily L'Equipe on 29/01/2021.

France Télévisions and Eurosport are paying €22m per season for the broadcasting rights to the competition over the 2018-2022 cycle. The rebate requested is therefore in the region of €6.6m.

The FFF adopted new formats for the 2020-21 Men's and Women's French Cups, due to the health crisis, on 17/12/2020. "For the men's Coupe de France, the principle of a competition organised using two paths until the Round of 32 has been retained: one path for the clubs in Ligue 1 Uber Eats (entry in the Round of 64) and Ligue 2 BKT (entry in the 8^th Round), and a second path for the other clubs.
