USA: Naomi Osaka (tennis, JPN), shareholder of the women's soccer club "North Carolina Courage"

Naomi Osaka has become a shareholder of the American women's soccer club North Carolina Courage (Cary, North Carolina), announced the club on 28/01/2021. The Japanese tennis player is the first investor since Steve Malik acquired and relocated the franchise (formerly Western New York Flash) to North Carolina in 2017.

"The Courage have won six trophies in four years (two NWSL Championships, three NWSL Shields, and the Women’s International Champions Cup). The Courage are part of the largest youth to professional soccer club in the U.S. with over 13,000 players, which aligns organically with The Naomi Osaka Play Academy, an initiative that aims to change girls' lives through play and sport.
