The pay-TV operator Sky Italia has officially announced the acquisition of the broadcasting rights for 121 of the 137 Champions League matches per season, for the 2021-2024 cycle, on 05/02/2021.

The Italian press had previously announced the allocation of the Champions League rights for the 2021-2024 cycle as follows on 21/10/2020:

• Amazon has acquired the broadcasting rights for the Wednesday night top fixture (16 matches + the European Super Cup) for an estimated €80m per season.
• Mediaset has recovered the Tuesday evening top fixture (16 matches), for free-to-air broadcasting, for an estimated €45m per year
• Sky Italia has acquired all the matches (excluding those on Amazon) for more than €100m per season.
• The OTT platform DAZN and the public audiovisual group RAI, also candidates, did not recover any of the lots.

Sky Italia currently holds the rights to the competition over the 2018-2021 cycle, for an estimated €260m per season. Sky Italia sub-licensed the rights to one top fixture per matchday to the public broadcaster RAI (in 2018-19) and then to Mediaset (2019-2021).
