Stade Rennais: nearly €38,000 from 2019-20 season ticket holders donated to the Ligue de Bretagne

"Sensitive to the situation of amateur football, Stade Rennais FC (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) had the pleasure of donating the sum of €37,621, thanks to the generosity of its supporters and partners, to the Ligue de Bretagne to support Breton football," announced the club on 05/02/2021.

Following the premature end of the 2019-20 Ligue 1 season due to the health crisis, Stade Rennais offered its season ticket holders and partners the option of obtaining a voucher equivalent to the value of the unused portion of their season ticket, or the chance to donate it to the club, which agreed to donate 20% of the proceeds to amateur football.

"It's heartwarming. Amateur football is often pitted against professional football. This is not the reality. Most professional players have played amateur football. This is a substantial help for amateur football in the face of the difficulties it is experiencing," said Jean-Claude Hillion, president of the Ligue de Bretagne de Football, who was presented with a cheque from the hands of Nicolas Holveck, president of Stade Rennais.
