Austria: the insurer Allianz acquires naming rights of future stadium of Rapid Vienna 2025

The German insurance group Allianz has bought the naming rights of the future stadium of Rapid Vienna (Austria) through 2025, the club announced on 06/06/2014.

The stadium will be located on the site of Gerhard Hanappi-Stadion, whose demolition is to begin in summer 2014. Allianz Stadion has a capacity of 28,000 seats and is to be inaugurated in 2016. The cost is estimated at €53m. The club is to receive a grant from the City of Vienna for close to €20m.

The new stadium is to have 2,500 seats and 40 hospitality boxes. The western stands will have the administrative offices of Rapid Vienna, a megastore and a museum. With the new stadium, the club hopes to increase its revenues by €3.6m per season.

Rapid Vienna finished second in the Austrian Bundesliga in 2013-14.
