Liga: FC Barcelona achieve over 1m followers on Chinese social network Sina Weibo

FC Barcelona (Liga) have over 1,171,170 subscribers on the Chinese social network Sina Weibo, the club said on 12/6/2014.

The Spanish club offers exclusive news and photos on its official page, and hopes to take advantage of the more than 500m users of Sina Weibo to improve its digital coverage in China.

FC Barcelona are already present on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Tencent Weibo, Pinterest and YouTube. They opened their official Sina Weibo account on 27/03/2014. The club has 3,181,949 followers on Tencent Weibo (China's largest social network), for an account opened in November 2011.

"Sina Weibo is a social network used by 30% of China’s Internet users, a very similar percentage to Twitter’s in the United States … Being there means another step forward in Barça’s expansion in China and a new channel for bringing the Club closer to the Asian continent," said Dídac Lee, director of media, communications and new technologies for FC Barcelona, on 27/03/2014.
