Video referee technology: Blatter proposes two challenge reviews per manager per match

"Why don't we give team managers the possibility of two challenge reviews for referring decisions during the match?" said Joseph Blatter, president of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), at the 64th annual FIFA congress in Sao Paulo (BRA) on 11/06/2014. Blatter said he would propose this idea to the IFAB (International Football Association Board, the body in charge of the laws of the game) and see if it is applicable.

The Swiss leader had often repeated that he was against the introduction of video refereeing. "For video in matches, the answer is: nyet! Football must have continuity," he said to News Tank on 28/04/2014.

"You can always change your mind. When you watch the games on TV, with all these cameras, you can see everything," said Blatter at the congress.

Blatter has been the FIFA president since 08/06/1998, and may submit this proposal to the IFAB at the 129th annual meeting of this body, set for Belfast (Northern Ireland) from 27/02 to 01/03/2015.
