TV rights: Lega Serie A negotiating on all fronts (national, international, MENA, consortium offers)

The Lega Serie A has announced the launch of a negotiation phase by mutual agreement for the international broadcasting rights (outside the MENA zone) to the Serie A TIM, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, for the 2021-2024 cycle, on 10/02/2021.

The Italian League has already been in a private negotiation phase, since 29/01/2021, for its domestic broadcasting rights over the same period. Sky Italia and DAZN, current holders of these rights for the 2018-2021 cycle for €973m per season (7 matches on Sky, 3 on DAZN), are competing for this new cycle. DAZN has made the best financial offer (reported €840m for 7 out of 10 matches on an exclusive basis and the other 3 on a non-exclusive basis) according to Italian media, and could thus become the main broadcaster of the Serie A TIM in Italy.

Regarding its broadcasting rights for the MENA zone, the Italian League is expecting final offers on Monday 15/02/2021. The Qatari pay-TV group beIN Media Group, holder of broadcasting rights in the region for nearly $100m (€82m) per season, may not bid according to several sources. The pay-TV…
