Serie A: Stefano Pioli (Italy) to follow Edoardo Roja as Lazio manager

Stefano Pioli (Italy) will manage Lazio (Serie A) for 2014-15 with an option for an additional season, the club announced on 12/06/2014. He will replace Edoardo Roja (Italy), who had held the post since 04/01/2014. Roja had in turn had replaced Vladimir Petkovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) who was dismissed for having agreed, on 23/12/2013, to become the selector with the ASF (Swiss Football Association) after the 2014 World Cup.

Pioli, 48, managed Bologna FC 1909, 19th in Serie A (29 points) and relegated to Serie B for the 2014-15 season. Pioli managed them from 04/10/2011 to 07/01/2014, when he is dismissed for poor performance.

His annual salary at Lazio is estimated at €600,000.

Lazio finished in 9th place in Serie A in 2013-14 (56 points).
