Premier League: all matches to be broadcast live in the UK until spectators return

All Premier League matches will be broadcast live in the UK by the English League's broadcast rights holders in the 2019-2022 cycle (Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon, and the BBC), until spectators return to the stadiums in the country, announced the English League on 17/02/2021.

The Premier League had broadcast, on pay-per-view (pay-per-view) in October and November 2020, via Sky Sports and BT Sport, matches for which the rights are not granted in normal times due to the TV blackout (ban on broadcast live matches on Saturdays between 14:45 and 18:15 GMT to protect the crowds in the stadiums). This pay-per-view measure was controversial because of the price (14.95 pounds sterling / 16.50 euros per match) per game.

The Premier League ended this pay-per-view experiment on 21/11/2020 by reverting to the broadcasting system put in place since the "restart" (end of the 2019-20 season played behind closed doors, see below ).
