Brazil 2014: Iran instruct players not to wear new shirts for each match

To save money, the players on Iran's national team are not to wear new shirts for each match of the 2014 World Cup (12/06 to 13/07/2014), said Ali Kafashian, president of the IFF (Iranian Football Federation), on 16/06/2014.

"We have not given players a shirt for each game. Players must be frugal with their shirts," Ali Kafashian explained to the wire service Fars when Iran was facing off with Nigeria, on 16/06/2014 for their first game in Group F.

The Iranian players had complained about the quality of their outfits on 13/05/2014, saying that the shirts shrunk during their first washing. Kafashian stated that the equipment supplied by Uhlsport was flawless, and blamed a temperature error in washing. Carlos Queiroz, the manager of Iran's selection, also criticised Uhlsport shirts, saying they were not designed to be worn in humid weather.
