Everton FC: Liverpool City Council approves plans for the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock

Everton FC's (Premier League) planning applications for a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock and a community-led legacy project at Goodison Park were today unanimously approved by Liverpool City Council," announced the Merseyside club on 23/02/2021.

Everton's new stadium will have a capacity of 52,888, compared with 39,221 for Goodison Park, the club's current venue. The latter will be demolished to make way for an area of more than three hectares where housing, offices, nursing homes, shops and green spaces will be built (see below).

The club will however have to wait a little longer before starting work, as the building permits will only be definitively issued once an agreement from Secretary of State for Housing Communities and Local Government has been obtained. "This is standard practice for a development of this size and scale. The Government will have an initial 21 days to review the application before reaching a decision," said the club.
