Covid-19: UEFA cancels the European men's and women's Under-19 Championships

The UEFA executive committee has cancelled the 2020-21 editions of the European men's and women's Under-19 Championships due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its repercussions regarding the organisation of the competitions, announced the European body on 23/02/2021.

"In making these decisions, the UEFA executive committee took note that, with the government restrictions currently in place, the travelling of teams and staging of mini-tournaments would prove very difficult. The member associations were consulted and supported the decision," explained UEFA.

"Although it is unfortunate that no youth competitions can take place in the current season, the health and safety of young athletes must be prioritized in the current circumstances," added the European Confederation.

The final stages of the men's U19 Euro was scheduled to take place in Romania from 30/06 to 13/07/2021, the women's U19 Euro was due to take place in Belarus from 21/07 to 02/08/2021.
