FC Schalke 04: "Expectations not met, Umbro partnership will end a year earlier" (A. Jobst)

The partnership between Umbro and FC Schalke 04 "will end prematurely on 30/06/2022," announced Alexander Jobst, marketing director at FC Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) during the club's digital round table "mitGEredet" on 18/02/2021. "We agreed together to end the partnership one year earlier," said Jobst.

The agreement between the English equipment manufacturer and FC Schalke 04 was initially planned for the 2018-2023 cycle (€6m/season). Umbro had previously succeeded adidas in 2018-19. The German brand had been the club's historic equipment supplier since 1963-64.

"We expected Umbro to have a stronger presence, to better position the club and to be, as announced in 2017, very well represented in department stores all over the world," said Alexander Jobst. The club and the brand will therefore continue to work together until the end of 2021-22, intensifying their relationship to produce "more special shirts" for specific events such as carnival.
