Leeds United FC: schoolchildren invited to become "virtual mascots" for match versus Southampton

Leeds United FC (Premier League), through its Foundation, offered local schoolchildren the opportunity to become the club's "virtual mascots" during the match versus Southampton FC (3-0, Matchday 18 of the 2020-21 Premier League) played behind closed doors at Elland Road Stadium on 23/02/2021.

"Due to an exclusive competition set by Patrick Bamford (ENG, Leeds United player), who has been working with Beeston Primary School over the last few months, 11 young students acted as our virtual mascots for the match with footage of the live Zoom call able to be seen by those in attendance on the big screen at Elland Road ahead of kick-off. The youngsters taking part in the call were all using tablets that were recently donated by the Leeds United striker to support those in the school that didn't readily have access to necessary resources that would allow them to study online and continue with their education during the national lockdown," said the club.
