Brazil 2014: World Cup estimated to bring €1.1bn to advertising market for 2014

The 2014 World Cup in Brazil (from 12/06 to 13/07/2014) should generate €1.1bn in the 2014 global advertising market, according to ZenithOptimedia, an agency that does consulting and buys media space for advertisers, on 16/06/2014. It said that the annual growth of the advertising market with an assist from the World Cup, will increase by 1.5%, from 3.9% in 2013 to 5.4% in 2014.

The advertising market in Latin America will benefit the most from the World Cup and is expected to generate €369m in media buys. Markets in Western Europe and North America should each receive a boost of €221m from it.

The Cup will bring €185m to advertising markets Asia-Pacific, where the time difference (12 hours between Brazil and Japan, for example) does not give the event good visibility.
