AS Roma: a turnover of €98.7m and net loss of €74.8m for the first half of 2020-21

AS Roma (Serie A TIM) posted a turnover of €98.7m for the first half of the 2020-21 financial year (from 01/07/2020 to 31/12/2020), up 4.3% compared with the first six months of the 2019-20 financial year (€94.6m), reported the club after its board of directors approved the financial results (document available to download) on 26/02/2021.

The Roman club posted a net loss of €74.8m, versus a net loss of €86.9m for the same period in 2019-20. The club's EBITDA (excluding transfers) was also negative at -€19.7m, compared with -€29.3m a year earlier. These results are mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which was still unknown or relatively unknown in the first half of 2019-20.

The health crisis seriously disrupted the calendars of football competitions in Europe during the second half of the 2019-20 season, and most of them have extended beyond the end of the financial years (as of 30/06/2020 for the vast majority of professional clubs in the European Top 5).
