FC Barcelona: 110,290 socios called to vote to elect the new president, this Sunday 07/03/2021

110,290 socios of FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) are called to vote to elect the new president of the club, this Sunday 07/03/2021. 22,811 of them (20.7%) have already chosen to vote by mail, a possibility offered by Barça for the first time, pandemic obliging. The remaining 87,479 will be able to cast their votes in one of the six places spread over several cities in Catalonia (Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, Tarragona, and Tortose) and in Andorra, a situation also unprecedented since these elections have always taken place only in the city of Barcelona previously.

Three candidates are in the running to succeed Josep Maria Bartomeu, who resigned (along with his board of directors), under the pressure of a motion of censure, on 27/10/2020:
• Joan Laporta, who already served as Barça president from 2003 to 2010 and is the favorite in this election;
• Victor Font;
• Toni Freixa, known to be close to Josep Maria Bartomeu.
